Statement of Purpose: I propose to build a 15 foot tall GI Joe in modern American combat gear, and place him on on a pedestal in the middle of the proposed space for this memorial. During daylight hours, dawn to dusk, Americans can come ogle this embodiment of the American fighting hero, an abstract fully posable and playful call to arms. At dusk, when the light slips away and symbolic realm of secrets takes hold, a blood red laser will project the signature of Donald Rumsfeld on the chest of the soldier. This is meant to symbolize the automatic signature machine Mr. Rumsfeld used to sign the death notices of American soldiers killed in Iraq. At midnight, the signatures will multiply until every American, Iraqi
and citizen of the world who has died in this conflict is projected as At dawn, the laser will be switched off and it's business as usual.
